This will be the first time I Walk The Line has toured the US. Playing dark moody melodic punk, I Walk The Line released their newest record Desolation Street on January 23, 2007 on Gearhead Records. The White Barons, who formed at the beginning of 2006, released their debut record on February 20, 2007. Featuring the famous burlesque dancer Eva Von Slut on vocals, the band has already attracted an enthusiastic following to their edgy trashy punk sound. The Thunder Boys will release their debut 7" single on Gearhead Records in late March, and will be opening the show each night during the tour. Fresh out of high school, the quartet pulls from the best rock n' roll influences around, including The New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers, The Jones and The Rolling Stones.

Happy Holidays from your pals at Gearhead!
Featuring the eye-popping psychobilly front woman Eva Von Slut, the band plays a blend of punk and rock n' roll infused with infectious backing "whoa" style vocals reminiscent of The Misfits in their heyday. Fueled by an unholy mixture of booze, drugs, and rock n' roll fury, the band defies being put into any genre, yet instantly suck you in with the melodic hooks, a nose-to-the grindstone guitar/bass onslaught and hardcore-style drums. This is edgy bad-assed rock n' roll played by a gang you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley.
The White Barons started as a side-project for the band members but quickly gelled into the main focus for all involved. Eva Von Slut, apart from singing for the legendary punk band The Insaints and Thee Merry Widows, also has a burgeoning career as a well-known burlesque dancer, performing on stages all over the world. Brothers Nate and Johnny previously played in The Whiskey Dick Darryls, and drummer Adam pounded skins for the popular hardcore band Time in Malta.
They will be embarking on their first US tour in January 2007 and are scheduled to play the Gearhead Records showcase at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas March 2007.
Gearhead Records established its presence as the leader in the rock n' roll/punk rock genre (punk n' roll) when they had a break-out hit with The Hives from Sweden in 2002, and shortly after, The Hellacopters, New Bomb Turks and The Wildhearts. They continue to find and release edgy exciting bands that exemplify the spirit of rock n' roll.
Other bands on the roster include Gitogito Hustler, Electric Eel Shock and The Spunks from Japan, Turbo A.C.'s from New York, The Lords of Altamont from Los Angeles, CA, and The Black Furies from San Francisco, CA.

I Walk The Line was started as a side-project from some of the members’ other bands, Wasted and Manifesto Juke Box. The band quickly established themselves as a local must-see live act, bringing together fans of punk, hardcore and rock whenever they played.
IWTL released their debut album Badlands on Combat Rock Industry in 2004 and embarked on several tours of Germany and the UK, introducing the band to a wider international audience. Desolation Street was released in Europe in 2006 on Combat Rock Industry and was followed by continuous touring and promoting their signature dark punk sound to a wider audience.
They will be embarking on their first US tour in March 2007 with a stop scheduled for the Gearhead Records showcase at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas.

After I started Gearhead, I came to rely on Tower Records as one of the only national chain stores that would stock Gearhead releases. Most other chain stores like Virgin, or Best Buy, or Circuit City required labels to "pay to play", that is, pay for shelf space in their stores with required "marketing dollars". This is why you should ALWAYS buy from independent stores if you can. Tower was always run by music fans, and staffed by music fans, and if they liked a record, they made sure it got some exposure. My local Tower, here is Davis CA, has been instrumental in helping make everyone from "Demons" to Gitogito Hustler local favs. Aaron and crew never failed to play my records in the store, put up posters and turn customers onto something new, just because they dug what Gearhead was doing. If it hadn't been for Tower, bands like Mensen and NRA might never have seen shelf space in this ever shrinking "brick and mortar" retail climate.
This is not to say there hasn't been major support from small independently owned stores around the country, but Tower really always acted more like an indie store than a big corporation. They had a national presence, but the heart of an indie, and for that I will always truly be grateful. I am so sad to see the end of this company. Its almost impossible to find deep catalog at any store these days, it just costs too much to keep that sort of inventory on the shelves. But being the eternal optimist that I am, I hope that Tower closing will give independent record stores around the country a much needed boost in customer patronage. Independent stores are the life-blood of small labels like Gearhead, so please go out and support your local record store. Too many stores have closed already. For more information on Tower closing, click here.
Rock on,
Michelle
