Hellbound Glory's sound takes up where the original outlaw country singers like Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, David Allen Coe, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson left off. "Basically I set out to write simple country songs in a simple language about my life and the lives of my scumbag friends and that is something you can't get away with anymore in Nashville" says lead singer/songwriter Leroy Virgil.
The band tours constantly, playing dive bars and honkytonks across the country. Their "what the hell" attitude resonates in the many songs about living the hard life of boozing, drugs, broken hearts and thoughts of suicide. The humor inherent in this life on the edge mindset shines through the bleakness with passionate full-throttle delivery. Their rowdy shit-kickin' style meshes the best of country's past with the freewheeling abandon of the present day.
